Trump Claims Iran’s Missile Arsenal Reduced to About 22 Percent

United States President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran retains only a small fraction of its original missile stockpile following months of military confrontations and escalating tensions across the Middle East.

Speaking during an interview with NBC News, Trump said Iran’s missile capabilities had been significantly diminished, estimating that the country now possesses only about 21 to 22 per cent of its previous arsenal.

“They still have capacity. They have some missiles, they have some drones. I would say, percentage-wise, maybe 21 or 22 per cent of their missiles,” Trump said.

The latest assessment represents a slight adjustment from a figure Trump cited in May, when he claimed Iran retained approximately 18 per cent of its missile inventory.

The US President has repeatedly argued that military pressure and sustained operations have substantially weakened Iran’s defence infrastructure and strategic capabilities.

Despite those claims, regional tensions remain high as both countries continue to exchange accusations over recent military activities in the Gulf.

Iranian military authorities on Friday alleged that they launched warning missiles toward two US naval destroyers operating in the Gulf of Oman.

The US military, however, rejected the claim and maintained that its forces had not been threatened by any such action.

The latest developments come amid broader concerns about regional stability following months of military exchanges involving Iran, the United States and several Gulf states.

Earlier this week, Kuwaiti authorities announced that air defence systems intercepted dozens of ballistic missiles launched during what officials described as Iranian aggression.

The incident further heightened security concerns in a region already grappling with ongoing diplomatic and military tensions.

Analysts say the competing narratives surrounding military capabilities and recent confrontations underscore the fragile nature of the current ceasefire arrangements and the continued risk of renewed hostilities.

While diplomatic efforts remain ongoing, uncertainty continues to surround the future trajectory of relations between Tehran and Washington as both sides maintain sharply contrasting positions on regional security and military activities.
