President Bola Tinubu has commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies following the killing of a suspected bandit kingpin, Ibrahim Bastuji, and the rescue of Hajiya Amina Abubakar, widow of the late retired Major General Rabe Abubakar.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the operations as significant victories in the ongoing campaign against banditry, kidnapping and violent crime.

According to the President, the successful operation against Bastuji represents a major setback for criminal networks operating across Kogi State and neighbouring communities.

“I congratulate our gallant troops on this decisive milestone. Nigeria will not surrender any part of its territory to criminals. Those who choose the path of violence against innocent citizens will find no hiding place,” Tinubu said.

The President added that the achievement reflects the growing determination of security agencies to reclaim areas affected by criminal activity and restore public confidence.

Tinubu also praised troops involved in the rescue of Mrs Abubakar, describing the operation as evidence of effective intelligence gathering, coordination and professionalism.

“The safe return of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar is a source of relief to her family and to all Nigerians. I commend the intelligence coordination and bravery of the officers and men who executed the rescue operation,” he said.

Mrs Abubakar was rescued days after the death of her husband, retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who died while being held captive following his abduction in Katsina State.

The retired military officer and his wife were kidnapped on May 30 along the Marabar Musawa-Kafinsoli Road in Matazu Local Government Area.

Following the incident, military authorities launched a coordinated offensive under Operation CLEAN SWEEP III as part of wider efforts by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle bandit camps and terrorist hideouts across the North-West.

The President reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing security agencies with the resources, equipment, training and support needed to sustain ongoing operations.

He also urged Nigerians to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible and timely intelligence capable of aiding security operations.

“The government will continue to provide the Armed Forces with the resources, training and support needed to end banditry, kidnapping and all forms of violent crimes,” Tinubu stated.
