Champion Breweries Plc has reported a profit after tax of N1.79 billion for the 2025 financial year, representing a 119 per cent increase compared to the previous year.

The company disclosed the performance during its 50th Annual General Meeting held in Lagos, where shareholders commended management for improved profitability, successful capital raising and ongoing expansion initiatives.

Chairman of the Board, Imo-Abasi Jacob, described the 2025 financial year as a defining phase in the company’s corporate evolution. According to him, Champion Breweries successfully transitioned from a recovery phase into a stronger growth trajectory driven by improved operational efficiency, disciplined cost management and strategic repositioning.

“The year under review represents a defining phase in the company’s evolution,” Jacob said. “It is one in which Champion Breweries transitioned from a position of recovery to one of measurable growth, strengthened profitability and strategic repositioning.”

The company recorded a 43 per cent increase in revenue, rising to N29.80 billion during the financial year. Jacob attributed the growth to the success of the company’s margin-led strategy and improved operational performance.

He also disclosed that Champion Breweries sustained its growth momentum into the first quarter of 2026, posting a 69 per cent year-on-year increase in revenue to N14.36 billion.

Operating profit during the first quarter rose to N3.02 billion, while profit after tax stood at N881 million. The chairman said the company maintained a strong gross profit margin of 48 per cent despite softer consumer demand and reduced domestic sales volumes.

Jacob further highlighted the company’s successful Rights Issue, noting that it significantly strengthened the capital base and boosted investor confidence in the brewery’s long-term strategy.

“Our successful engagement with the capital market during the year was not only a strategic financing milestone but also a strong vote of confidence from shareholders and stakeholders in the future of Champion Breweries Plc,” he said.

He expressed confidence that the company was now operating from a stronger and more resilient platform capable of navigating prevailing economic uncertainties.

According to him, Champion Breweries is strategically positioned to capitalise on emerging opportunities within the beverage industry.

Shareholders at the AGM approved a dividend payout of seven kobo per share for the 2025 financial year in line with the improved earnings performance.

The company also updated shareholders on its strategic expansion efforts, including the acquisition of a controlling interest in the Bullet brand portfolio as part of plans to diversify revenue streams and expand into faster-growing beverage segments.
