‘War Is Over’ — Fubara Backs Tinubu, Wike’s Rainbow Coalition Ahead of 2027

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared his support for President Bola Tinubu and the Rainbow Coalition, a political alliance associated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Fubara made the declaration on Tuesday during the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and equipping of the Riven Medical Facility, a public-private pharmaceutical factory in Rivers State.

The governor, who said the prolonged political crisis that had divided the state's political establishment was now over, urged his supporters to unite behind candidates presented by the coalition.

Fubara stated that his support for Tinubu and the coalition was unconditional, urging those who believed in his leadership to support all candidates fielded under the alliance.

“I am supporting our Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is our President, and he is the one we are supporting. The governorship candidate is the candidate I am supporting, and anybody who believes in me will support every candidate under the Rainbow Coalition,” Fubara said.

The governor also dismissed suggestions that he should delay his alignment with the coalition, insisting that he had already made his decision.

“I am already in the family. I have returned to our family. Give your total support to the coalition. The time of war is over; it is now time for peace, and that peace will take us to another level,” he added.

Fubara further ruled out his involvement in any political activities that could reopen old divisions in the state.

“I am not party to anything that will bring any form of disunity in this state. We have done what we need to do, and now we are moving forward,” he said.

The governor's declaration represents a significant political development in Rivers State, where his relationship with Wike had been at the centre of a prolonged political crisis that divided the state's political structure.

With the 2027 general elections approaching, Fubara's endorsement of Tinubu and the Rainbow Coalition could reshape political alignments in the state and strengthen the coalition's efforts to consolidate its influence in Rivers and the wider South-South region.

Fubara Backs Pharmaceutical Investment

Speaking on the Riven Medical Facility project, Fubara reaffirmed his administration's commitment to ensuring the successful execution of the investment.

The governor said he agreed to support the project after receiving assurances about its viability and delivery timeline.

He disclosed that the first phase of the pharmaceutical factory was expected to be completed within three months.

According to him, the project is strategically important to the state's industrial development plans and is expected to create employment opportunities while positioning Rivers State as a hub for the production of medical consumables.

Fubara said the investment would also stimulate economic activity, attract local and international patronage and encourage the establishment of complementary businesses around the facility.

The governor pledged the full support of the Rivers State Government to the investors and urged members of the host community to cooperate with the company to ensure the project's success.

He also disclosed that the state government was currently involved in litigation with several companies over claims exceeding ₦200 billion.

Fubara said his administration was determined to avoid contractual disputes that could discourage investors and undermine the state's investment climate.

He expressed optimism that the first phase of the pharmaceutical facility would be completed and ready for commissioning within the next three months.
