The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mop-up exercise, bringing the examination phase of this year’s admission cycle to a close.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, who said candidates who participated in the mop-up examination can now access their results through the Board’s approved result-checking platforms.
According to Benjamin, the release of the results signals the completion of the UTME process and clears the way for the next stage of admission activities across tertiary institutions nationwide.
“With the successful conduct of the mop-up exercise and the publication of the results, the Board will proceed with the ranking of candidates,” he stated.
JAMB also disclosed that the printing of official result slips required for admission processing is expected to commence before the end of the week.
The Board expressed appreciation to candidates, parents, schools and other stakeholders for their cooperation, patience and support throughout the examination period.
The mop-up examination was conducted on June 13, 2026 for candidates who had been successfully verified during the main UTME but were unable to sit for the examination due to technical issues, biometric verification challenges or other disruptions encountered at their designated examination centres.
The 2026 UTME, which was conducted nationwide in April, recorded the participation of more than two million candidates seeking admission into universities, polytechnics and colleges of education across the country.
Following the release of the main UTME results earlier in the year, JAMB retained the minimum admission benchmark scores at 150 for universities and 100 for polytechnics, while also opening its portal to allow candidates process changes of institution and course where necessary.
With the publication of the mop-up results, attention is now expected to shift to candidate ranking, admission screening processes and the commencement of admissions into tertiary institutions for the 2026/2027 academic session.
