Tunisia have reportedly dismissed head coach Sabri Lamouchi following the country's crushing 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Reports indicate that the Tunisian Football Federation reached the decision after holding an emergency meeting in the aftermath of the heavy Group F loss in Monterrey.
French journalist Romain Molina reported on Monday that Lamouchi's tenure had officially come to an end.
“It’s the end for Sabri Lamouchi at the helm of the Tunisian national team,” Molina stated.
The reported decision sparked widespread reaction among supporters, many of whom questioned both the timing of the dismissal and the deeper structural issues affecting the national team.
Tunisia's World Cup campaign got off to a disastrous start as Sweden produced a dominant display, winning 5-1 with goals from Yasin Ayari, Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyökeres and Mattias Svanberg.
The defeat followed another heavy setback in Tunisia's final warm-up game before the tournament, where they suffered a 5-0 loss to Belgium.
Lamouchi only assumed responsibility for the national team earlier this year after the departure of Sami Trabelsi following Tunisia's Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
His reported spell in charge ends after just five matches, having recorded one victory against Haiti while failing to secure wins against Canada, Austria, Belgium and Sweden.
Tunisia are now expected to accelerate the search for a replacement before their crucial second Group F fixture against Japan on June 20.
Former Tunisia forward Wahbi Khazri and ex-national team coach Mondher Kebaier have already emerged as possible candidates.
