Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Spanish defender Marc Cucurella from Chelsea in a deal reportedly worth €55 million, as the Spanish giants continue their squad rebuild ahead of the new season.
The 27-year-old left-back has signed a six-year contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 2032.
In a statement released on Monday, Real Madrid announced that an agreement had been reached with Chelsea for the transfer of the Spain international.
"Real Madrid and Chelsea have reached an agreement for the transfer of Marc Cucurella, who will join our club for the next six seasons until June 30, 2032," the club said.
Cucurella arrives after three seasons in England following his move from Brighton & Hove Albion to Chelsea in 2022.
A product of Barcelona's famed La Masia academy, he also enjoyed a successful spell at Getafe before moving to the Premier League.
The defender is currently part of Spain's squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and becomes the only Real Madrid player in Luis de la Fuente's national team setup.
His arrival comes amid significant changes at the Bernabéu following the appointment of Jose Mourinho as head coach and the re-election of club president Florentino Pérez.
Madrid are also being linked with several high-profile transfers, including Bernardo Silva, Denzel Dumfries and Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté.
Chelsea, meanwhile, part ways with one of their most experienced defenders after a disappointing Premier League campaign that saw the club finish 10th.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Cucurella won the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Europa Conference League and established himself as a regular for both club and country.
Madrid view his signing as a major reinforcement for the left side of defence as they seek to return to domestic and European dominance.
