Yoruba Nation advocate Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has confirmed that members of his private security outfit, Iru Ekun, who sustained injuries during a recent ambush in the Old Oyo National Park, have recovered.
Igboho disclosed this in a video message released on Saturday, where he also dismissed rumours circulating about his well-being, assuring supporters that he remains safe and in good health.
Addressing followers at home and abroad, the activist said the injured operatives had fully recovered from the attack and reaffirmed his commitment to confronting criminal elements operating in the region.
“I greet you, my fathers and mothers. It’s your son, Sunday Igboho. My brothers and sisters all over the world, today is the 28th of June, 2026.
“Rumours have been circulating, but I want to use this opportunity to assure all my loved ones across the world that I am safe.
“Those who sustained injuries have now recovered. We will not relent until those disturbing the peace of our land are driven out,” he said.
His comments come days after members of the Iru Ekun security outfit were attacked during an operation inside the Old Oyo National Park in Oyo State.
According to earlier reports, the operatives were conducting an operation aimed at tracking suspected kidnappers and other armed criminals believed to be operating within the forest reserve when they came under heavy gunfire.
Sources familiar with the operation said the team had deployed surveillance drones to identify suspected hideouts and monitor movements before advancing into the area.
The operation reportedly escalated into a gun battle after armed men, believed by the operatives to be members of criminal gangs, opened fire on the team, leaving several operatives injured.
The injured personnel were subsequently evacuated for medical treatment.
Despite the attack, Igboho insisted that the ambush would not weaken the resolve of his security outfit.
He said Iru Ekun remains committed to supporting efforts to combat criminal activities threatening communities across the South-West.
Authorities have yet to issue a detailed official statement on the outcome of the operation or independently confirm the identities of those responsible for the attack.
