Strategic Communication Key to Mining Sector Growth, Alake Says After ARCON Fellowship

Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, has said transparent communication, accountability and ethical public engagement are critical to the success of the Federal Government's ongoing reforms in Nigeria's mining sector.

Alake made the remarks in Abuja after he was conferred with the Fellowship of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), one of the Council's highest professional honours.

The minister said effective communication remains an essential pillar of governance, noting that reforms can only succeed when citizens are adequately informed and actively engaged in the process.

According to him, the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development will continue to strengthen transparency, accountability and stakeholder engagement as it implements policies aimed at repositioning Nigeria's extractive industry for sustainable growth.

He stressed that responsible communication helps build public confidence in government policies while encouraging greater collaboration among investors, host communities and other stakeholders in the mining sector.

The fellowship, presented by a delegation from ARCON at the minister's office, recognises Alake's longstanding contributions to strategic communication, ethical public engagement and national development.

Presenting the award, the Director-General of ARCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, described the honour as a fitting recognition of Alake's distinguished career in public communication and governance.

Fadolapo said the minister has consistently demonstrated how strategic communication can be deployed as a powerful instrument for driving institutional reforms, shaping public perception and advancing national development goals.

He noted that Alake's leadership has shown the value of transparent communication in supporting policy implementation and fostering public trust in government initiatives.

The fellowship adds to the growing recognition of Alake's role in championing reforms in Nigeria's solid minerals sector, where the Federal Government has intensified efforts to curb illegal mining, improve regulation, attract investment and expand the sector's contribution to the national economy.
