Uzodimma Meets Tinubu, Invites President to Commission Imo Legacy Projects

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, on Tuesday met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where both leaders discussed national security, economic reforms, infrastructure development and other issues affecting the country.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Governor Uzodimma said the discussions centred on key national priorities, including efforts by the Federal Government to strengthen security, stimulate economic growth and accelerate development across Nigeria.

The governor congratulated President Tinubu on the successful rescue of the schoolchildren and teachers recently abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the operation as a reflection of the Federal Government's commitment to protecting lives and improving national security.

According to him, the successful rescue demonstrates the resolve of the Tinubu administration to confront insecurity and restore public confidence in the country's security architecture.

Uzodimma also commended the President over the recent increase in Nigeria's crude oil production, noting that higher output would boost government revenue, strengthen economic stability and provide additional resources for critical infrastructure and development projects.

The governor reaffirmed his support for the ongoing debate on the establishment of state police, arguing that decentralising policing would complement existing federal security structures and enable state governments to respond more effectively to local security threats.

On developments in Imo State, Uzodimma briefed the President on the progress of major infrastructure and legacy projects being executed by his administration, saying the investments are improving the quality of life for residents while creating new economic opportunities across the state.

He said the projects are consistent with the objectives of the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development, economic inclusion, improved connectivity and investment promotion.

Governor Uzodimma also formally invited President Tinubu to visit Imo State to commission several completed legacy projects, expressing confidence that the visit would further strengthen collaboration between the Federal Government and the state.

According to the governor, closer cooperation between both levels of government remains essential to sustaining development and delivering tangible benefits to Nigerians.

The meeting highlighted the continued partnership between the Federal Government and the Imo State Government in advancing policies aimed at strengthening security, promoting economic growth and improving the welfare of citizens.
