The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has formally cleared former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, setting the stage for what the party describes as a renewed push for credible leadership and national transformation.

The decision was ratified by the National Working Committee (NWC) following the submission and review of reports by the party’s Primaries Appeal Committee, which examined the conduct and outcomes of the recently concluded primary elections.

Announcing the development on Saturday, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Muhammed Ishaq, disclosed that the NWC approved Duke’s candidature alongside the results of governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly primaries conducted across the country.

According to him, all candidates that emerged through the party’s internal processes have been duly cleared to contest in the 2027 general elections, with the exception of the Tarauni Federal Constituency primary election in Kano State, which was nullified and will be revisited by the party.

The PRP spokesman said the party is preparing for an extensive nationwide campaign, revealing that no fewer than 420 candidates will fly its flag in various elective positions during the forthcoming elections.

“In line with our commitment to active participation in Nigeria’s democratic process, the Peoples Redemption Party is proud to present 420 candidates across different levels of elective offices in the 2027 general elections,” Ishaq stated.

He noted that the successful completion of the primary election process reflects the party’s dedication to transparency, internal democracy and fairness, adding that the PRP remains committed to offering Nigerians a credible alternative anchored on accountability, service and people-oriented governance.

The clearance of Donald Duke, a former governor widely recognised for his reforms and infrastructure development initiatives during his tenure in Cross River State, is expected to strengthen the party’s visibility ahead of the 2027 campaign season.

Party officials expressed confidence that the calibre of candidates presented by the PRP would resonate with Nigerians seeking effective leadership and practical solutions to the country’s economic and governance challenges.

With the ratification process now completed, the party is expected to shift attention towards nationwide mobilisation, policy engagement and strategic preparations ahead of the next electoral cycle.
