The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja (Aruna I), has donated £1,000 to support an Ibadan-born motorcyclist, Olatunji Emmanuel Okedeyi, in his campaign to help eradicate polio through a long-distance awareness ride from London to Nigeria.
The donation was announced on Thursday during a reception held in Okedeyi's honour at the Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, Ibadan. The monarch commended Okedeyi's commitment to raising awareness about polio through the cross-continental motorcycle journey, describing the initiative as patriotic and worthy of support.
Oba Ladoja urged other sons and daughters of Ibadanland to emulate Okedeyi's dedication to humanitarian causes, adding that individuals who contribute to the unity, progress and development of Ibadanland would always receive his moral and financial support.

In his remarks, Okedeyi expressed appreciation to the Olubadan for the donation and encouragement. He also thanked the Okedeyi family, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), supporters and other dignitaries who attended the reception for their unwavering support.
Okedeyi, who serves as a social worker with Medway Council in the United Kingdom, is also an ambassador of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), a captain in the Oyo State Legion and a long-distance motorcycle enthusiast. He has undertaken several solo and group motorcycle expeditions within Nigeria and across international borders in pursuit of humanitarian causes.
