
Reported Killing of Yoruba Tricycle Mechanic Triggers Communal Riot in Ibadan

A riot broke out in the Ojoo area of Ibadan on Tuesday following the reported killing of a tricycle mechanic, prompting the deployment of security operatives to restore order.
The unrest was reportedly sparked after a Yoruba tricycle mechanic was allegedly stabbed to death during an overnight altercation involving suspected scrap collectors. Authorities have yet to officially confirm the circumstances surrounding the killing.
The incident triggered protests and clashes involving angry youths, creating tension across parts of the community. Some residents reportedly fled the area over fears of possible reprisals.
Meanwhile, Security personnel, including operatives of Operation Burst and other security agencies, were deployed to strategic locations in Ojoo to prevent the violence from escalating and to maintain law and order.
