The Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, has presented a strategic briefing on the council’s activities and ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s automotive industry to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Osanipin met with the President on 7 July 2026, where he provided updates on NADDC’s progress in implementing initiatives aimed at promoting industrial development, increasing local participation in automobile manufacturing and positioning Nigeria’s automotive sector for global competitiveness.
The NADDC boss said the engagement provided an opportunity to highlight the council’s contributions towards advancing the Federal Government’s industrialisation agenda and creating a more sustainable automotive ecosystem.
He also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for his support and commitment to policies aimed at accelerating industrial growth and strengthening Nigeria’s manufacturing capacity.
According to the council, NADDC remains focused on implementing programmes that support local vehicle production, encourage investment in the automotive value chain and improve Nigeria’s position within the global automobile market.
The meeting comes as the Federal Government continues efforts to expand domestic manufacturing, reduce dependence on imported vehicles and promote policies that support economic growth through industrial development.

NADDC, established to coordinate and develop Nigeria’s automotive sector, has continued to work with stakeholders across the industry to improve local capacity, promote innovation and attract investment into automobile production.
