The incumbent Governor of Plateau State Caleb Mutfwang, has secured a definitive mandate to contest for a second term in office after winning the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election.
Mutfwang's victory was made official in Jos by the Chairman of the Plateau State APC Election Committee, Mr. Fidelis Mnyim, following a comprehensive collation process that showcased an absolute monopoly of support for the current administration's policies and trajectory.
According to the official data certified by the electoral committee, Governor Mutfwang scored a massive 233,335 votes from the accredited party faithful across the state. His sole challenger, retired Commodore Yilchini Bida suffered an electoral rout, managing to secure only 3,070 votes.
"As the chairman of this committee, I wish to declare that Caleb Mutfwang, having scored the highest number of votes and satisfied all relevant requirements of the APC constitution, is the winner of this primary," Mnyim announced to cheering party members. "Therefore, he is formally returned as our elected governorship candidate for Plateau State in the 2027 general elections."
The smoothly coordinated primary serves as a major psychological and political victory for Mutfwang, demonstrating that his administration has successfully unified the state’s internal APC structures behind his leadership. With his nomination secured by an indisputable margin, the governor's campaign team can now pivot entirely toward general election mobilization, presenting his first-term milestones as the primary argument for tenure continuity.
