The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wole Oluyede, has won his polling unit in the ongoing Ekiti State governorship election, defeating Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Results announced at Polling Unit 002, Ward 03 (Ugele/Akoru) in Ikere Local Government Area showed that Oluyede polled 119 votes.
Governor Oyebanji, the APC candidate seeking re-election, secured 113 votes at the polling unit.
The candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the National Rescue Movement (NRM) failed to record any votes.
According to the result declared at the polling unit, a total of 237 voters were accredited for the election out of 790 registered voters.
The outcome represents an early boost for the PDP candidate in his polling unit as collation of results continues across Ekiti State's 16 local government areas.
Saturday's governorship election is being closely monitored by political parties, election observers and other stakeholders, with voters choosing who will govern the state for the next four years.
More results are expected as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues the collation process statewide.
