Bruno Fernandes Rejects €200m Saudi Offer To Pursue European Dreams

Bruno Fernandes has revealed that he rejected a staggering €200 million offer from a Saudi Pro League club because he still believes he has unfinished business in European football.

The Manchester United midfielder made the disclosure during an appearance on the Diary of a CEO podcast, where he spoke candidly about ambition, family, sacrifice and the values guiding his career decisions.

Fernandes, who recently emerged as Premier League Player of the Season, said the financial offer would have made him the wealthiest person ever from his hometown, but insisted money alone could not replace his football ambitions.

“Instead of becoming the richest person from my town ever, I want to live my dreams,” Fernandes said. “And I want to pass these values on to my children.”

The 31-year-old Portugal international reflected emotionally on the sacrifices made by his wife during the early years of his football journey. According to him, their relationship began long before fame and financial success arrived.

“Look, my wife, she chose to live my dream with me when I was still 17. I have been with her since age 16,” he explained.

“At age 17, I went to Italy and I earned €1.7k per month. There was a lot of uncertainty. There was nothing guaranteed.”

Fernandes said despite the instability surrounding his career at the time, his wife chose to support him completely. “My wife had her own life, her own dreams and she said, ‘I am going to help you,’ and that’s what she did,” he added.

“Today, we have a beautiful family, with two beautiful kids.”

His comments come amid the continued push by Saudi Pro League clubs to attract elite football stars with massive financial packages. Several high-profile players have already moved to Saudi Arabia in recent years, transforming the league into one of the biggest spenders in global football.

However, Fernandes’ decision to remain in Europe is likely to be viewed as a major statement of intent regarding his commitment to competing at the highest level of the game.
