The Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Sokoto State Governor, Col. Ahmed Usman (Rtd), has commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shuaibu, for identifying with troops of Operation Fansan Yamma during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration in Sokoto State, describing the gesture as a significant morale booster for soldiers fighting insecurity in the North-West.

The Army Chief, represented by the Commander, Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army, Major General Godwin Mutkut, visited troops stationed at the Forward Operation Base in Tureta Local Government Area on Thursday, where he shared lunch with officers and men serving on the frontline as part of the Sallah festivities.

Reacting to the visit, Col. Usman said the decision of the Army leadership to celebrate with troops in an operational theatre demonstrated commitment to the welfare, motivation and operational readiness of soldiers risking their lives to combat banditry and other violent crimes in the region.

According to him, the presence of the Army Chief’s delegation among frontline personnel would further strengthen the troops’ fighting spirit and reassure them that their sacrifices are recognised and appreciated both by the military high command and the people of Sokoto State.

He noted that such engagements remain critical in sustaining the morale of security personnel operating under difficult and dangerous conditions across troubled communities in the North-West.

The retired military officer also reaffirmed the continued support of the Sokoto State Government under Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for all security agencies operating within the state.

He said the state government remained committed to supporting ongoing operations aimed at restoring peace and ensuring the safety of residents in communities affected by banditry and other security threats.

Usman further prayed for the success of ongoing military operations and urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could assist efforts to tackle criminal activities across the state and the country at large.
