The Managing Director of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Dr. Emeka Agbasi, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s infrastructure development objectives through improved institutional performance, strategic collaboration and efficient service delivery.
Agbasi stated this while participating in the Sectoral Retreat of the Federal Ministry of Works, a high-level strategic engagement organised by the Ministry’s Planning, Research and Statistics Department in collaboration with the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination and the Central Delivery Coordination Unit (CDCU).

The retreat brought together key government officials, heads of agencies and stakeholders in the works and infrastructure sector to review performance, assess key deliverables and strengthen alignment with the Federal Government’s development priorities.
Speaking on the significance of the engagement, the FERMA Managing Director said the retreat provided a valuable platform for meaningful discussions on improving institutional effectiveness, enhancing inter-agency collaboration and accelerating the delivery of projects and programmes that directly impact Nigerians.
According to him, the forum also created an opportunity for stakeholders to evaluate progress made within the sector, identify existing challenges and develop practical strategies for achieving better outcomes in line with national development goals.
Agbasi noted that strong institutions remain critical to the successful implementation of government policies and infrastructure initiatives, stressing the need for continuous engagement among relevant agencies to improve coordination and accountability.
He further emphasised that strategic planning, innovation and performance monitoring are essential for ensuring that public institutions deliver measurable value to citizens and contribute effectively to national development.
The FERMA boss reiterated the agency’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at improving road infrastructure, enhancing mobility and promoting economic growth through sustainable maintenance and management of federal road networks across the country.

Stakeholders at the retreat also explored ways of accelerating project execution, improving operational efficiency and fostering a results-driven public service capable of meeting the expectations of Nigerians.
