The National Youth Service Corps NYSC has suspended the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course for prospective corps members deployed to Niger State, citing ongoing renovation work at the state's orientation camp.
The announcement was contained in a notice issued by the scheme and posted on its official social media platforms on Sunday. According to the NYSC, the temporary suspension became necessary to allow rehabilitation work at the camp facility to continue without disruption.
"This is to notify the general public and prospective corps members deployed to Niger State for the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course that their orientation exercise is suspended for now due to ongoing renovation work at the orientation camp," the statement said.
The scheme assured affected prospective corps members that fresh information regarding their reporting location and commencement date would be communicated in due course.
NYSC management also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to affected corps members and their families.
The suspension comes months after a severe windstorm damaged critical facilities at the Niger State Orientation Camp in Paiko, Paikoro Local Government Area. Among the structures affected by the storm were male hostels, the multipurpose hall, kitchen facilities and staff quarters, prompting rehabilitation efforts by relevant authorities.
The 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course commenced nationwide on June 10 and is scheduled to conclude on June 30, but corps members posted to Niger State will now await further directives from the scheme regarding alternative arrangements.
