Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has inaugurated the Climate Peace Hub in Jibia Local Government Area, describing the facility as a transformative intervention designed to promote peacebuilding, climate resilience, economic empowerment and sustainable development.
The project was established through a partnership involving the Katsina State Government, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Norway.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony attended by diplomats, development partners and traditional rulers, Governor Radda said the hub represents a new model for community development and resilience.
“This facility represents the future of community development. It brings together peacebuilding, climate adaptation, technology, agriculture and skills acquisition under one roof,” the governor said.

“Our administration remains committed to supporting initiatives that empower our people, create opportunities for women and youths and strengthen peaceful coexistence among communities.”
Radda noted that the initiative aligns with his administration’s vision of promoting inclusive economic growth and sustainable development, particularly in communities affected by insecurity and climate-related challenges.
He described the facility as “a symbol of hope and innovation,” highlighting its integrated approach to addressing social and economic vulnerabilities.

During a tour of the facility, Governor Radda met Hafsat Rabi’u, a young woman living with disability who acquired vocational skills through the hub.
Impressed by her determination and achievements, the governor directed that she be considered for employment in the Katsina State Civil Service.
Climate Peace Hub Manager, Mohammed Aliyu, said the project serves as an integrated platform for climate adaptation, conflict prevention and livelihood development.
According to him, the facility houses Nigeria’s first climate-focused automatic weather station, smart agriculture demonstration farms, a conflict resolution centre, ICT laboratories, vocational training centres, aquaponics facilities, renewable energy systems and livestock watering points.

Aliyu disclosed that more than 100 women have already received vocational training through the project, while several beneficiaries are earning income through agricultural activities supported by the hub.

Governor Radda commended the UNDP and the Government of Norway for their continued support, stressing that strategic partnerships remain vital to addressing complex development challenges.
