Osun 2026: INEC Schedules August 1 Mock Accreditation Ahead of Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, August 1, 2026, for a mock accreditation exercise ahead of the Osun State Governorship Election scheduled for August 15.

The Commission said the exercise is aimed at testing its preparedness and ensuring the seamless deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) before election day.

According to INEC, the mock accreditation will be conducted in selected polling units across 12 Local Government Areas covering the state's three senatorial districts. The exercise is intended to assess the efficiency of the voter accreditation process, identify potential operational challenges, and address any shortcomings before the governorship election.

The selected local government areas are Osogbo, Olorunda, Ifelodun and Boripe in Osun Central Senatorial District; Egbedore, Ede North, Ede South and Ejigbo in Osun West Senatorial District; and Ilesa West, Ilesa East, Oriade and Obokun in Osun East Senatorial District.

INEC urged registered voters in the affected polling units to participate in the exercise, describing it as a crucial step in preparations for a credible, transparent and hitch-free governorship election.
