The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted a 276-member National Campaign Council and specialised subcommittees ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, will chair the campaign council.

The party announced the composition of the council in a notice signed by its National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, and published on the party’s official X handle on Sunday.

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, were named co-chairmen of the council.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, will serve as Deputy Chairman, while the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, will serve as Secretary.

According to the party, the council brings together prominent APC leaders, serving governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state lawmakers and other key stakeholders from across the country.

The party said the broad-based composition was designed to strengthen its campaign machinery and coordinate efforts towards securing victory in the Osun governorship election.

To ensure effective coordination and implementation of its campaign activities, the APC also established several specialised subcommittees.

The committees will oversee areas including election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, grassroots contact and mobilisation, logistics and campaign management, monitoring and compliance, protocol, media and publicity, security, youth mobilisation, women’s mobilisation and the mobilisation of persons with disabilities.

A dedicated secretariat committee was also constituted to support the administrative coordination of the campaign structure.

The party said the campaign council and its various subcommittees would be formally inaugurated on Tuesday.

The move marks a major step in the APC's preparations for the Osun governorship election, as the ruling party intensifies its mobilisation efforts and seeks to consolidate its political presence in the state.

The August 15 poll is expected to be closely contested, with major political parties already positioning their candidates and campaign structures ahead of the election.
