Tragedy in Imo as Nursing Student Found Beheaded in Apartment

Shock and tension gripped Umuadara Umulogho community in Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State on Thursday after the decomposing body of a female nursing student was discovered in her apartment under horrifying circumstances.

The victim, identified as Wendy Achumba, was said to be a student of the College of Nursing, Umulogho. Sources in the community disclosed that she had completed her Midwifery programme and was undergoing her Post Basic training before her tragic death.

Residents said the young woman was found lifeless and allegedly beheaded inside her apartment located in Umuadara Umulogho, throwing the quiet community into panic and confusion.

The gruesome discovery reportedly attracted large crowds of shocked residents and angry youths who stormed the scene demanding immediate action from security agencies.

Eyewitnesses said tension escalated shortly after police officers arrived at the scene, as some youths confronted security operatives over delays in removing the body and concerns surrounding the circumstances of the killing.

As of the time of filing this report, the lifeless body was still said to be at the scene while residents gathered in clusters discussing the disturbing incident.

The killing has sparked fear across the community, especially among students and young women living around the area, with many residents describing the incident as barbaric and deeply troubling.

Although the exact circumstances surrounding the murder remain unclear, locals suspect foul play and are calling for a full-scale investigation to uncover those behind the crime.

Some residents alleged that the victim had not been seen publicly for hours before neighbours reportedly became suspicious and forced their way into the apartment where the body was discovered.

The brutal nature of the killing has further intensified concerns about insecurity and violent crimes in parts of the state.

Community members have urged the Imo State Police Command and other security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident, arrest the perpetrators and ensure justice for the deceased.
