Ekiti Monarch Returns To Palace After Five Years Of Medical Treatment Overseas

Jubilation erupted in Ikole-Ekiti as the Elekole of Ikole, Oba Adewumi Fasiku, returned to his palace after several years of medical treatment overseas.

The monarch’s convoy was greeted by a large crowd of chiefs, indigenes, and well-wishers who lined the streets to welcome him home.

Oba Fasiku had been away from the kingdom for over five years while receiving specialised medical care abroad.

During his absence, palace activities and traditional administration continued under the guidance of the Elekole-in-Council, led by senior high chiefs, who maintained stability in the ancient town.

Speaking at the palace upon his arrival, a visibly elated Oba Fasiku thanked God for his recovery and expressed deep gratitude to the people of Ikole-Ekiti for their prayers, patience, and unwavering support. He also commended the Elekole-in-Council for holding the kingdom together during his absence.

The monarch said his return marks the beginning of a new chapter for Ikole-Ekiti, pledging to redouble efforts toward peace, unity, and socio-economic development. He noted that his experience had strengthened his resolve to attract healthcare initiatives and other developmental projects to the community.

Cultural troupes and youth groups staged performances at the palace forecourt, turning the monarch’s homecoming into a mini festival. Residents who spoke with reporters said they were relieved and hopeful that the king’s presence would accelerate ongoing development projects in the town.
