Radda Lauds Tinubu’s Reforms as First Lady Commissions Nigeria’s First Community Food Bank in Jigawa

Nigeria's first National Community Food Bank has been inaugurated in Jigawa State, with Katsina State Governor and Chairman of the North-West Governors Forum, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, describing the initiative as a landmark intervention while praising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic reforms and leadership.

The food bank was commissioned on Monday by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, during the inauguration of several development projects aimed at strengthening food security, healthcare, education and infrastructure across the North-West.

Other projects commissioned included the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Academy, the rehabilitated 29-kilometre Hadejia–Garun Gabas Road, Oluremi Tinubu Clinics, and other public infrastructure designed to improve the welfare of residents.

Speaking at the event, Governor Radda described the National Community Food Bank as a historic milestone and the first initiative of its kind in Nigeria, saying it reflects the First Lady's commitment to addressing food insecurity and supporting vulnerable citizens.

"This initiative is the first of its kind in the history of our nation. It reflects Your Excellency's compassion, vision and unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerians, particularly the most vulnerable members of our society," Radda said.

The Katsina governor also commended President Tinubu's economic and governance reforms, saying they are helping to reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth and long-term prosperity.

"We equally appreciate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the courageous reforms and visionary leadership he continues to provide in building a stronger, more prosperous and resilient Nigeria," he said.

Radda congratulated Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi for what he described as remarkable developmental strides, noting that the projects commissioned during the visit reflected prudent resource management and a commitment to improving the lives of the people.

"The impressive infrastructure, education, healthcare and social development projects we have witnessed today are clear evidence of Governor Umar Namadi's commitment to delivering meaningful dividends of democracy," he added.

The governor also acknowledged the support of the First Lady of Jigawa State for programmes promoting the welfare of women, children and other vulnerable groups.

He thanked Senator Oluremi Tinubu for visiting the North-West and reaffirmed the commitment of governors in the region to advancing food security, quality healthcare, education and inclusive development.

The event was attended by the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Hajiya Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa'id Ahmad, as well as North-West governors Uba Sani (Kaduna), Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto) and Nasir Idris (Kebbi).
