President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday attended the International Fleet Review held at Eko Atlantic City, Lagos, as part of activities marking the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy.

The commemorative event brought together senior government officials, military commanders, state governors, diplomats and other dignitaries to celebrate seven decades of service by the Nigerian Navy in safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime domain and supporting national security operations.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the International Fleet Review, which featured the inspection of naval assets, ceremonial displays and a parade showcasing the operational capabilities, professionalism and evolution of the Nigerian Navy over the years.

Speaking at the event, President Tinubu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening maritime security, protecting Nigeria’s territorial waters and providing the necessary support to the Armed Forces in addressing emerging security challenges within the country and the Gulf of Guinea region.
During the ceremony, the President received the Naval Flag from the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, a symbolic tradition reflecting the honour, heritage and enduring values of the Nigerian Navy.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
