Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has announced that he will dedicate the end of July to visiting one school or hospital as part of activities commemorating his 65th birthday.
In a statement shared on Sunday, Obi said the visits would serve as his modest way of expressing gratitude to God, with each institution receiving a contribution to support its work.
“I shall dedicate the end of the month to visiting one school or hospital as my modest way of commemorating my birthday. At each institution, I hope to make a modest contribution towards its work, however little, as a practical expression of my gratitude to God,” Obi stated.
The former governor explained that he preferred a birthday celebration focused on humanity rather than one centred on himself.
“Rather than a celebration centred on me, I desire a celebration that places humanity at the centre,” he said.
Obi also prayed for strength, wisdom, and humility to continue serving humanity, adding that at 65, he is more convinced than ever that the true measure of life lies in the positive difference made in the lives of others.
