The Oyo State Government has lifted the security curfew imposed on 10 local government areas following the recent kidnapping incident in Oriire Local Government Area.

The announcement came after authorities first imposed a 16-hour curfew before extending the restrictions by an additional day as security agencies intensified operations in the affected communities.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, said residents could resume their normal activities, thanking them for their patience, cooperation and understanding during the period of the restrictions.

"The government appreciates the support and cooperation shown by residents while the curfew lasted," the statement said.

Oyelade added that the state government was continuing to monitor the security situation and assured residents that efforts were ongoing to bring the kidnapping incident to a successful conclusion.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with useful information that could assist ongoing operations.

The curfew was imposed after a mass kidnapping in Oriire Local Government Area, where 39 schoolchildren and seven teachers were abducted, prompting heightened security measures across parts of the state.

The state government said it would continue working with security agencies to safeguard lives and property while ensuring normal economic and social activities resume across the affected local government areas.
