Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, is set to address an audience at the United Kingdom's House of Lords next week as part of events marking his recognition by the African Leadership Organization, publishers of African Leadership Magazine.

According to the organisers, Uzodimma will receive the African Inspirational Leadership and Good Governance Award during a ceremony scheduled for July 2 and 3 at the House of Lords in Westminster, London.

The African Leadership Organization, chaired by former Tanzanian President Dr Jakaya Kikwete, said the governor was selected in recognition of what it described as his leadership and governance initiatives in Imo State.

As part of the event, Uzodimma is expected to deliver a keynote address titled "From Vision to Velocity: Driving Africa's Next Wave of Growth and Leadership – The Imo State Experience."

In a letter to the governor, the Founder and Executive Chairman of African Leadership Magazine, Dr Ken Giami, said the platform would provide an opportunity for Uzodimma to share Imo State's development experience with an international audience while contributing to discussions on governance, economic resilience, sustainable growth and leadership across Africa.

The organisers also said the event would enable the governor to engage with policymakers, investors and private-sector leaders on issues relating to development and investment opportunities.

Explaining the basis for the award, Giami said Uzodimma was selected for what the organisation described as the implementation of his administration's Shared Prosperity Agenda, anchored on the 3R policy of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery.

According to the organisers, the governor's administration has undertaken infrastructure projects, promoted digital skills development and pursued initiatives aimed at expanding investment opportunities in the state.

The organisation also cited projects including road construction and rehabilitation, the Light Up Imo Project, the Orashi Special Energy Zone and youth-focused digital training programmes among the factors considered in selecting the governor for the honour.

The organisers further noted that, as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Uzodimma has played a role in promoting governance and development initiatives within Nigeria's democratic system.

The award places the Imo governor among previous recipients recognised by African Leadership Magazine, including Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio, Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimiye, Gambian President Adama Barrow, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete and African Development Bank President Dr Akinwumi Adesina.
