The Ogun State Police Command has paraded three suspects allegedly linked to the murder of retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.
The suspects were arraigned before a Magistrates Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, where the court ordered their remand for 60 days pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Oyesiku, a 67-year-old retired broadcaster, was found dead inside her residence at Agodo village, Kobape area of Abeokuta, on June 20, while her security guard was also discovered dead and locked inside the security house.
Following investigations, the police recovered the late broadcaster’s missing vehicle and arrested the suspects, including a former security guard of the deceased, another security guard and a bricklayer.
The suspects were brought before Chief Magistrate O. T. Odubanjo of Court 3 after the police filed an application seeking their detention to allow further investigation and obtain legal advice from the DPP.
The Legal Officer of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, A. S. Abiodun, told the court that the remand application was filed in line with the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Ogun State 2017.
He said the application was supported by a 24-paragraph affidavit, 17 exhibits and a written address, urging the court to grant the request in the interest of justice.
Granting the application, the Chief Magistrate ordered that the suspects be remanded at the correctional centre for 60 days.
The matter was adjourned until September 10, 2026, for further proceedings.
The killing of Oyesiku, a respected figure in Ogun’s broadcast industry, had sparked public outrage and renewed calls for improved protection of elderly residents and vulnerable communities across the state.
