The Obidient Movement has condemned the invitation and prolonged interrogation of two prominent members of the movement, Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama Pee, and Peter Akah, also known as Peter for Nigeria, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In a statement signed by its Media and Communications Directorate, the group alleged that the EFCC’s action was an attempt to intimidate supporters of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The group said the duo were interrogated by EFCC officials on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, over alleged abuse of the naira and were asked to return on Thursday, July 16, for further questioning.

According to the statement, human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, had provided updates on the development, noting that both individuals cooperated with investigators and explained that the items involved were “prop money” used for entertainment purposes.

The movement accused the EFCC of targeting activists while ignoring alleged corruption cases involving public officials.

“While citizen activists are dragged into hours of interrogation over entertainment props, the individuals who have systematically drained the resources of this nation walk free with state protection,” the statement said.

The group criticised EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, accusing the commission under his leadership of failing to tackle corruption effectively and instead focusing on political opponents of the government.

The statement also listed several corruption allegations involving public figures, including Chief of Staff to Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, urging the EFCC to investigate such cases.

The Obidient Movement said it would resist what it described as a “political hatchet job” against its members and called on the anti-graft agency to focus on what it described as “real corruption cases.”
