
Nursing Student’s Death: Imo Police Arrest Suspect, Begin Full Investigation

The Imo State Police Command has commenced an intensive investigation into the tragic death of a female student of the College of Nursing, Umulogho, whose body was discovered in her off-campus apartment in Umulogho, Obowo Local Government Area of the state.
In an official statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Imo State Command, DSP Okoye Henry, confirmed that operatives had already begun efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and track down those responsible.
According to the statement, officers attached to the division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), swiftly visited the scene following reports of the incident and carried out an on-the-spot assessment.
The command disclosed that the victim’s body was subsequently evacuated from the apartment and deposited at a morgue, while a full-scale investigation commenced immediately.
Police authorities also revealed that one suspect had been arrested and was currently undergoing preliminary interrogation to assist investigators in uncovering what led to the student’s death.
“The Command is aware of the tragic incident involving the death of a female student of the College of Nursing, Umulogho, whose body was discovered in her private off-campus apartment,” the statement read.
“Following the report, the DPO and operatives promptly visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment, after which the body was recovered and deposited at the morgue, while investigation has commenced to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and arrest those responsible.”
The police command appealed to students of the institution and residents of the community to remain calm, assuring the public that the situation was under control and that efforts were ongoing to ensure justice is served.
The incident had earlier sparked tension in the Umulogho community after news of the student’s death spread, with residents and youths expressing shock and anger over the tragic development.
The police, however, urged members of the public to avoid spreading unverified information capable of escalating tensions, while promising that further details would be made available as investigations progress.
