The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman, Aisha Muktar Hassan, in connection with the death of her 97-year-old grandmother following a domestic dispute in Daura Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Police Command, the incident occurred on June 12, 2026, at about 7:00 p.m, when an argument reportedly broke out between the suspect and her paternal grandmother, Hajiya Ummukhulsum Hassan.

Police investigations revealed that during the altercation, the suspect allegedly struck the elderly woman on the head with a wooden chair, causing severe injuries.

The victim was found unconscious in a pool of blood when police operatives responded to a distress call lodged at the Sabon Garin Daura Police Station by the suspect’s father, Muktar Muhammad.

She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment but was later confirmed dead by the attending physician.

Spokesman of the Katsina State Police Command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, said the suspect was arrested during the course of the investigation and reportedly confessed to the act.

He added that the suspect remains in police custody and will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.

The police command assured members of the public that justice will be served and pledged to keep residents informed of further developments in the case.
