Governor Uba Sani has donated 300 Saudi Riyals each to pilgrims from Kaduna State participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia as part of efforts to support their welfare during the pilgrimage.

The governor announced the gesture on Thursday night during a visit to Kaduna pilgrims at their tents in Mina.

A statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibraheem Musa, disclosed that the amount is equivalent to approximately N114,000 at the prevailing exchange rate. During the visit, Governor Sani commended the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency and members of the state’s Hajj delegation for ensuring a smooth and successful pilgrimage exercise.

He specifically praised the Hajj Delegation Committee led by Abubakar Mustapha for coordinating activities effectively and ensuring the comfort of pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.

According to the governor, his administration remains committed to supporting initiatives that improve the welfare and spiritual experience of Kaduna pilgrims during Hajj operations.

He however, apologised for minor challenges experienced during the pilgrimage, explaining that such difficulties were not intentional.

“As human beings, we can only plan, but Allah determines the final outcome,” he said.

Narrating his personal experience before arriving at the pilgrims’ camp, the governor revealed that he trekked for several hours after roads leading to the area were blocked.

“The distance between my tent and the pilgrims’ camp is about two to three kilometres, and ordinarily, I would have arrived quickly. However, all roads leading here were blocked, and I had to trek for about four to five hours before reaching this place,” he explained.

Governor Sani also urged the pilgrims to continue praying for peace, unity and national development in Nigeria, stressing that sustainable progress could only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and stability.

He further prayed for divine guidance for individuals causing unrest across the country, insisting that politics and the pursuit of public office should never be valued above human lives.

The Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Salihu Abubakar, commended the governor for his continued support toward improving the welfare of pilgrims from the state.

He noted that Governor Sani had consistently approved requests aimed at enhancing Hajj operations and ensuring the comfort of pilgrims.

Also speaking, the State Auditor-General, Abubakar Abdullahi, said no governor from Kaduna State had visited pilgrims in their tents since 1999 except Governor Sani.

He urged the pilgrims to continue praying for the governor and for sustained peace and development in Kaduna State and Nigeria at large.
