Imo Police Mourn Two Officers Killed in Road Accident, CP Orders Full Welfare Support

The Imo State Police Command is mourning the loss of two officers who died after sustaining injuries in a road traffic accident while on official duty, as the Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, has pledged full support for the bereaved families and injured personnel.

The tragic accident occurred on June 29, 2026, along the Amakalu–Umuelemma Road in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State and involved seven officers of the command.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, two of the officers later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash despite receiving medical treatment, while the remaining injured personnel are currently undergoing treatment.

Reacting to the incident, Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso expressed profound sorrow over the loss, describing the deceased officers as dedicated personnel who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.

The police commissioner directed that all necessary medical care and welfare support be provided to the injured officers to facilitate their recovery.

On behalf of the officers and men of the Imo State Police Command, Bosso extended his condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the deceased officers, describing their deaths as a painful loss to both the command and the Nigeria Police Force.

He said the commitment, dedication and sacrifice of the fallen officers in the service of the nation would never be forgotten.

Bosso also prayed for the speedy and complete recovery of the injured officers and assured their families of the command's continued support during the difficult period.

Reaffirming that the welfare of police personnel remains a priority, the commissioner disclosed that the command has commenced a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.

The Imo State Police Command also prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the deceased officers and urged members of the public to remember their families and the injured personnel in their prayers.
