The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the ongoing Ekiti State election, Wole Oluyede, has alleged intimidation by police officers at his polling unit, raising fresh concerns over the conduct of the electoral process.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote at Osagulu Hall, Ward 3, Unit 6, Oluyede claimed that the presence and actions of some security operatives created an atmosphere of tension and discomfort for voters.

The PDP candidate said the situation was troubling and alleged that the conduct of security personnel fell short of expectations for a free, fair and credible election.

According to him, the incidents observed at his polling unit amounted to voter intimidation and cast doubt on the integrity of the electoral process.

Oluyede further described the governorship election as "flawed", warning that the alleged irregularities could form the basis of a legal challenge after the poll.

He said his team was documenting developments and would review available evidence before deciding on the next line of action.

The allegations come amid heightened security deployment across Ekiti State as voters participate in the governorship election.

Neither the police nor electoral authorities had responded to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
