Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) were on Saturday deployed to Ikere-Ekiti as security agencies intensified efforts to prevent vote buying and other forms of electoral malpractice during the ongoing Ekiti State governorship election.
The anti-graft officials were sighted at strategic locations across the town, which holds significant political importance as the hometown of the Deputy Governor, Chief Mrs. Monisade Afuye and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Wole Oluyede.
Their presence drew attention from voters, party agents and election observers as voting progressed across polling units in the area.
The deployment forms part of broader efforts by security and anti-corruption agencies to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process and discourage practices capable of undermining the credibility of the election.

Vote buying has remained a major concern in Nigerian elections, prompting increased monitoring by relevant agencies during major polls.
The EFCC operatives arrived shortly after voting commenced, joining other security personnel already deployed to maintain order and ensure compliance with electoral guidelines.
Ikere-Ekiti is regarded as one of the key battlegrounds in the governorship election, making security and election monitoring efforts particularly significant in the town.
