Colombia secured a place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 32 after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over DR Congo in a tense Group K encounter, with defender Daniel Muñoz emerging as the match winner.
After dominating possession and creating numerous chances throughout the contest, Colombia finally broke the resistance of the Congolese side in the 76th minute when Muñoz struck the decisive goal to send his country into the knockout stage.
The victory gives Colombia six points from two matches and guarantees qualification with one group game remaining, while DR Congo must now seek a positive result against Uzbekistan to keep their hopes alive.

Colombia entered the match as favourites but found it difficult to break down a disciplined DR Congo defence led by an inspired goalkeeper, Lionel Mpasi.
The Congolese shot-stopper frustrated Colombia for long periods, producing a series of impressive saves to deny Luis Díaz, James Rodríguez and several other Colombian attackers.
Despite controlling the game and creating the better opportunities, Colombia repeatedly failed to find the breakthrough as DR Congo defended resolutely and threatened occasionally on the counterattack.
The breakthrough finally arrived with 14 minutes remaining.
After sustained pressure, Muñoz capitalised on an attacking move inside the penalty area and fired home, with the effort taking a slight deflection before beating Mpasi.
The goal sparked celebrations among Colombian supporters and ultimately proved enough to separate the two sides.
DR Congo battled hard to find an equaliser but struggled to create clear-cut opportunities against a Colombian side determined to protect its lead.

While the African nation remained competitive throughout, they could not find a way back into the game as Colombia managed the closing stages effectively.
The result leaves Colombia in a commanding position at the top of Group K and among the first teams to secure qualification for the expanded World Cup knockout rounds.
Much of the pre-match attention focused on Colombia's attacking stars, including James Rodríguez and Luis Díaz.
However, it was right-back Daniel Muñoz who once again delivered when it mattered most.
Known for his intelligent attacking runs and ability to arrive in dangerous positions, Muñoz continued his impressive tournament form by scoring the goal that secured Colombia's passage into the next round.
His contribution highlighted the depth and balance within the Colombian squad, with defenders proving just as decisive as the team's more celebrated attacking names.

Colombia will face Portugal in their final Group K match on Saturday in a clash that could determine who finishes top of the group.
At the same time, DR Congo will take on Uzbekistan knowing a positive result is essential if they are to maintain any realistic hope of advancing to the knockout phase.
