The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has finalized its electoral strategy for the 2027 Bauchi State governorship race by officially adopting former federal lawmaker, Senator Halliru Dauda Jika as its consensus candidate.
The selection was ratified during an official affirmation exercise conducted by the party’s national electoral committee in Bauchi. Speaking at the conclusion of the event, the Chairman of the ADC Electoral Committee, retired General Ishaya Bauka, confirmed that the selection process was executed in strict alignment with the party's constitutional provisions and wider democratic values. Bauka stated that the consensus model was designed to foster deep party cohesion and eliminate the internal friction that often tears political platforms apart before general elections.
The strategic unity of the party extended beyond the executive ticket, with the ADC successfully producing its three senatorial candidates through unchallenged consensus arrangements.
Senator Jika expressed his gratitude to the party executives, delegates and grassroots organizers for the absolute trust placed in his leadership. The veteran politician, who represented the Bauchi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2019 to 2023 and contested the 2023 gubernatorial race under the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) before migrating to the ADC, stated that his new platform holds a formidable, unblemished grassroots network.
"The ADC possesses a united and potent political framework across every single local government in Bauchi State," Jika stated. "We are entirely focused on offering a credible, transparent and superior alternative to the governance of this state."
Backing this sentiment, the Bauchi State Chairman of the ADC, Alhaji Shu’aibu Abdullahi Dankama, described Jika as a highly experienced administrator whose widespread public acceptance makes him an immediate threat to the traditional political heavyweights in the state.
To present a complete and formidable legislative ticket, the ADC also affirmed its principal senatorial candidates for the upcoming federal legislative polls. Honorable Garba Dahiru Salanke was cleared to contest for the Bauchi South seat, while the party selected Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi to represent Bauchi Central and Senator Nazif Gamawa to contest the Bauchi North Senatorial District.
