2027 Ticket Locked: Tinubu Emerges APC Standard Bearer as Party Schedules Certificate Presentation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to officially receive the certificate of return and flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja following the nationwide collation of results from the APC presidential primary election conducted across the country. The development marks a major political milestone for the ruling party as it formally concludes its internal presidential nomination process ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency, the certificate and party flag will be presented to President Tinubu by the APC Presidential Primary Elections Committee after the completion of the collation exercise. The event is expected to attract top figures within the ruling party, including APC governors, members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), members of the National Working Committee (NWC), federal lawmakers and other influential party stakeholders from across the country.

The ceremony is also expected to serve as a show of unity and consolidation within the APC following the party’s nationwide direct primary election process.

President Tinubu had earlier described the APC primaries as a demonstration of internal democracy and grassroots participation, commending party members for what he called a peaceful and well-organised exercise across the federation. The ruling party had adopted the direct primary mode for the presidential election, allowing registered members to participate in the process at ward level nationwide.

Party leaders have continued to project the exercise as evidence of the APC’s commitment to inclusive democratic processes and internal party stability ahead of the 2027 polls.

Sunday’s presentation of the certificate of return and party flag is expected to formally position President Tinubu as the APC’s standard bearer for the presidential election campaign expected to intensify in the coming months.

The event will also bring together influential political figures within the party at a time political alignments and coalition movements are already shaping the national political landscape ahead of the next general election.
