Troops conducting security operations in Borno State have arrested a pregnant woman suspected of transporting essential items allegedly meant for Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists operating in the North-East.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Falmata Adamu, was reportedly arrested on July 13, 2026, during a routine checkpoint operation along the Mandaragirau–Biu Road in Borno State.

According to security sources cited by counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, the woman was intercepted after troops carried out a search and allegedly discovered items concealed beneath her civilian clothing.

The recovered items reportedly included 17 torchlights and 19 Tiger batteries, which security personnel suspect may have been intended for use by members of a terrorist group.

The suspect was taken into custody, while preliminary investigations have commenced to determine the destination of the items, the identities of any intended recipients and whether she has any connection with terrorist logistics networks.

The arrest is part of ongoing efforts under Operation Hadin Kai, the military operation targeting Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents in the North-East, particularly through intelligence gathering, patrols and efforts to disrupt supply routes that sustain terrorist activities.

Security sources said cutting off access to essential supplies remains a major focus of counter-insurgency operations, as terrorist groups rely on networks of supporters and suppliers to obtain items needed for survival and operations.

The report added that security conditions across the theatre of operations remain relatively calm, although troops continue to maintain heightened alertness due to the unpredictable nature of the insurgency.

The Nigerian military has continued to urge residents in affected communities to provide timely information on suspicious activities, movements and individuals that could assist security agencies in preventing attacks and dismantling criminal networks.

As of the time of filing this report, the military has not issued an official statement providing further details on the suspect or confirming possible charges. Investigations are ongoing.
