President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of three former members of the National Assembly to strategic leadership positions in the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) and the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).
The appointments, announced on Friday in a statement by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, take immediate effect.
Under the new appointments, former House of Representatives member Abdulrazak Sa'ad Namdas has been named Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency, while former federal lawmaker Patrick Obahiagbon has been appointed Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial, at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company.
President Tinubu also reappointed Chukwuma Umeoji as Executive Director, Corporate Services, at the NDPHC.
Namdas Takes Over BCDA Leadership
According to the Presidency, Namdas succeeds Dr Dakorinama Alabo George, who resigned from the agency to pursue an elective political office in his home state.
Namdas represented the Ganye/Jada/Mayo Belwa/Toungo Federal Constituency of Adamawa State in the House of Representatives, where he served as spokesperson of the 8th House.
A seasoned journalist and public relations practitioner, he also served as Chief Press Secretary to former Adamawa State Governor Boni Haruna. More recently, he contested in the governorship primary election in Adamawa State.
Obahiagbon Replaces Ogbeide-Ihama
Patrick Obahiagbon was appointed Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial, of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, replacing Engineer Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who resigned to pursue his political ambition in Edo State.
Obahiagbon is a former member of both the Edo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, where he became widely known for his distinctive style of public speaking and legislative contributions.
Umeoji Reappointed
The President also reappointed Chukwuma Umeoji as Executive Director, Corporate Services, at the NDPHC.
Umeoji, who represented Aguata Federal Constituency of Anambra State in the 9th House of Representatives, had earlier resigned from the position to pursue his political ambition in his home state.
His reappointment returns him to the management of the power company as the Federal Government continues efforts to strengthen leadership across key public institutions.
The Presidency said all three appointments take effect immediately.
