Morris Monye, the former Director of Mobilisation for the Obidient Movement, has raised a major alarm, accusing the Bola Tinubu administration of systematically targeting and harassing key supporters of the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC Peter Obi.

In a stark warning that has sent ripples through Nigeria’s political landscape, Monye in short post on X wrote ‘’The government is going after Peter Obi’s people and harassing us. I will share more later in the evening. It’s really unfortunate.’’

Although Monye did not provide specific details of the alleged harassment, he suggested that supporters of the Obidient Movement were facing increasing pressure. He also did not identify the government agency or officials allegedly responsible for the actions he described.

The allegation comes at a time of heightened political activity as discussions around the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum. Peter Obi, who was the Labour Party's presidential candidate in the 2023 election, remains one of Nigeria's leading opposition figures, with his supporters, popularly known as the Obidient Movement, maintaining an active presence both online and offline.
