Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has declared that the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has earned him the right to seek a second term in office, revealing plans to mobilise more than 4.4 million grassroots canvassers nationwide in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Uzodimma made the declaration on Wednesday during the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) National Mobilisation Retreat held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, where political leaders, governors, ministers, party stakeholders and mobilisation coordinators gathered to chart a comprehensive grassroots engagement strategy.

Speaking in his capacity as Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, the governor described the retreat as a critical step towards building a coordinated national mobilisation structure capable of connecting government policies and achievements directly to citizens at the grassroots level.

According to him, the administration’s economic reforms, infrastructure investments, healthcare initiatives and social intervention programmes have begun producing measurable results despite the initial challenges associated with implementing difficult policy decisions.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated courage in taking difficult decisions that previous administrations avoided. The Renewed Hope Agenda is not merely a government programme; it is a comprehensive plan to rebuild Nigeria and secure a better future for generations to come,” Uzodimma said.

The governor maintained that the administration has laid a strong foundation for long-term growth and national development, insisting that the gains recorded so far justify continued leadership beyond 2027.

“The achievements of this administration have laid a solid foundation for continued progress. The performance of President Tinubu merits a second term, and it is our responsibility to take that message to every community across the federation,” he added.

Uzodimma disclosed that the organisation had developed what he described as one of the most extensive grassroots mobilisation networks in contemporary Nigerian politics.

“Our architecture moves from the national leadership to the six geopolitical zones, the 36 states and the FCT, down to the 774 local government areas, 8,809 wards and ultimately 176,846 polling units across Nigeria,” he said.

He further revealed that the structure would deploy 25 canvassers to each polling unit nationwide.

“At twenty-five canvassers to a polling unit, that is a lawful civic force of 4,421,150 people across the federation. That is the mathematics of serious mobilisation. That is the difference between hoping to win and organising to win,” Uzodimma declared.

The governor stressed that the objective of the campaign was not merely electoral but also educational, noting that citizens must understand the rationale behind government reforms and their long-term benefits.

“We mobilise without arrogance. We persuade without insult. We defend the President without insulting the citizen. We answer hard questions without losing our temper. Our mission is to communicate truth, performance and evidence with discipline and patriotism,” he stated.

Also speaking, Kaduna State Governor and Deputy Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Senator Uba Sani, emphasised the need for effective communication between government and citizens, describing grassroots engagement as essential to sustaining public confidence in governance.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, who serves as Secretary of the organisation, described the retreat as a major milestone in building a cohesive national mobilisation network capable of reaching communities across the country.

Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, also expressed confidence in the administration’s economic direction, arguing that ongoing reforms were gradually stabilising the economy and laying the groundwork for sustainable growth.

Similarly, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, commended members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors for supporting the party’s grassroots expansion strategy and promoting government achievements at community level.

The retreat, themed “Building a Unified National Mobilisation Architecture,” is expected to produce a National Grassroots Mobilisation Blueprint, strategic communication frameworks and state-by-state action plans designed to strengthen citizen engagement and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections begin to gather momentum.
