Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has expressed deep sorrow over the recent bandit attacks on Dangulbi community in Tureta Local Government Area of Sokoto State, describing the violence as a direct attack on peace, security and the collective wellbeing of citizens.

The former governor of Sokoto State extended his condolences to families who lost loved ones during the attacks and offered prayers for those injured and displaced by the violence.

The attacks, which occurred within days of each other, reportedly left several people dead, forced residents to flee their homes and caused extensive destruction of property.

Community sources said the latest incident came less than 48 hours after an earlier attack that claimed at least 17 lives, including residents and visitors who had returned to the area to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with their families.

Reacting to the tragedy, Tambuwal said he was deeply saddened by the recurring bloodshed and the suffering being endured by affected communities.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones, pray for the speedy recovery of those injured, and stand in solidarity with all residents affected by this tragedy,” he said.

The senator also prayed for the safe return of individuals reportedly abducted during the attacks and encouraged residents not to lose hope despite the difficult circumstances.

Condemning the recurring violence, Tambuwal stressed that no community should be subjected to persistent attacks and insecurity.

“These repeated attacks on innocent citizens are painful, unacceptable and a direct assault on the peace, security and stability of our communities,” he stated.

He called on security agencies to intensify operations across vulnerable areas of Sokoto and neighbouring states, particularly along the Sokoto-Zamfara corridor, which has witnessed frequent attacks by armed groups.

According to him, citizens deserve to live in safety and pursue their livelihoods without fear of violence, displacement or intimidation.

The attacks have once again highlighted the continuing security challenges facing several rural communities in northwestern Nigeria, where residents continue to grapple with killings, kidnappings and the destruction of farmlands and homes.

For many residents of Dangulbi, the immediate challenge remains rebuilding their lives while hoping for improved security and a lasting return to peace.
