Shakira and Burna Boy lit up the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony on Thursday with a high-energy performance of the tournament’s official song, ‘Dia Dia’, at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

The Colombian star opened the anthem following an earlier set by J Balvin. Burna Boy then joined her on stage, delivering a punchy verse that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

The performance took place an hour before the opening match between hosts Mexico and South Africa. Mexico won 2-0, with goals from Julián Quiñones and Raúl Jiménez in each half.

This year’s World Cup is the first to feature 48 teams and is being co-hosted by Mexico, Canada and the United States.
