Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of French defender Ibrahima Konate on a four-year contract following the expiration of his deal with Liverpool.

The Spanish giants announced on Thursday that an agreement had been reached for the 27-year-old centre-back to remain at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 30, 2030.

Konate arrives in Madrid after a successful spell with Liverpool, where he established himself as one of the club's key defenders following his move from German side RB Leipzig in 2021.

During his time at Anfield, he made 183 appearances and helped Liverpool secure several major honours, including the Premier League title in 2025 and the FA Cup in 2022.

The France international joins Real Madrid while representing his country at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

His arrival forms part of a significant rebuilding project at the Spanish club as they seek to strengthen the squad following two consecutive seasons without winning a major trophy.

Konate becomes one of several high-profile additions made by the club this summer as Madrid continue to reshape their team ahead of the new campaign.

The experienced defender is expected to add depth, leadership and defensive stability to Real Madrid's backline as the club pursues domestic and European success.
