Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the release of a kidnapped headmaster, Mathew Owoade, after sustained security operations forced his abductors to abandon him.

In a statement issued, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the victim regained his freedom on the evening of July 13 after a coordinated joint security operation mounted sustained pressure on the abductors, forcing them to abandon him.

According to the command, the operation followed the immediate deployment of security personnel and intensive investigative efforts after the incident was reported.

The police said the victim has been taken to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment and will be debriefed by investigators after receiving medical attention as part of ongoing efforts to identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible for the abduction.

Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, commended the support of other security agencies, community members and residents throughout the operation.

He reaffirmed the command's commitment to protecting lives and property across Oyo State, assuring residents that criminal elements would not be allowed to operate freely.
