
NVBF Appoints New Coaches Across National Volleyball Teams

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has announced the appointment of new coaching personnel across its national teams following an extensive screening and selection exercise aimed at repositioning the sport for greater success.
The appointments cover the senior men and women’s teams, age-grade national squads and beach volleyball teams, as the federation intensifies preparations for upcoming regional, continental and international competitions.
According to the federation, the newly constituted technical crews are expected to provide the leadership, expertise and tactical direction required to elevate Nigeria’s performance across all levels of volleyball competition.
For the Senior Men’s National Team, Taiwo Oladipupo has been appointed Head Coach. He will be assisted by Twevini Yohanna, who takes on the dual role of Assistant Coach and Setters Coach, while Jonah Adamu has been named Offensive Coordinator.
On the women’s side, Elam Elishama will lead the Senior Women’s National Team as Head Coach. He will work alongside Segun Abinde, who has been appointed Offensive Coordinator, while Sunday Yunana Akapson assumes responsibility as Setters Trainer.
The federation also announced appointments for its youth development programmes. Adamu Nite will oversee the Under-19 Boys Team as Head Coach, supported by Ayo Aboderin and Philip Stephen.
For the Under-19 Girls Team, Vincent Unogwu has been named Head Coach, with Bukola Faremi and Chinyere Onuoha serving as members of the technical crew.
Sunday Yunana Akapson will additionally head the Under-17 Girls Team, supported by Jessica Egwuna and Kinsley Alika, while Suleiman Ajeigbe has been entrusted with leading the Under-17 Boys Team alongside assistants Ibrahim Adamu and Osas Omoruyi.
In beach volleyball, the federation appointed Kayode and Felicia Amos to oversee the women’s team, while John Iwerima and Jonathan Thaj will take charge of the men’s squad.
The NVBF said the appointments reflect its commitment to strengthening the technical foundation of volleyball in Nigeria and ensuring that athletes receive the highest level of coaching support.
The federation expressed confidence that the new coaching teams possess the experience, professionalism and technical competence required to nurture talent and guide Nigerian teams to greater achievements at international competitions.
Officials further reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to building a sustainable talent pipeline capable of producing future champions in both indoor and beach volleyball, while enhancing Nigeria’s reputation as a competitive force within the sport.
